I don't know if it's because I don't like waiting years for a show to be over or if it's because I'm just horrible at knowing what is popular, but I always opt for old TV shows that stopped airing at least a year ago.
When I watch a show, I end up getting very attached to the characters. Because of this attachment, I get really sad after watching the last episode. If that episode isn't the last of the series, imagine how I feel until I get to watch the next season!
Okay, usually I forget about it, unless it was a great show, like How I Met Your Mother, but still.
Recently, my boyfriend and I started watching Lost. That show ended in 2010. THREE years ago. I had always wanted to try watching it, but never did. Probably because back then I was a complete Disney Channel freak. I never watched anything that wasn't on Disney back then if I had the choice. In my defense, I think I was in Jr. High when Lost first aired.
We aren't even on Season 3 yet (Please, no spoilers!), but I am more than addicted to this show. I go through withdrawls when I have to go a day without watching it. I have been having creepy dreams involving aspects and characters of the show. The show also somehow manages to become a part of the majority of the conversations I have.
"What do you want for lunch?" "Um. I don't know. Is it just me or do you really want to know how Locke's legs initially became paralyzed?"
See what I mean!?
Don't worry, I'm not spoiling anything for those who are like me and haven't seen the show yet. You learn that in like Episode 1!
I do recommend you watch Lost if you haven't seen it yet. The writing is amazing. The characters are developed incredibly well. The music creates the perfect amount of suspense in just the right time. Sometimes it's borderline horror-esque and sometimes grotesque, but everything else makes up for it.

I prefer not to watch a show till it's completely over--the torture of waiting till the next season is too unbearable.

Ha, I'm the exact same way! I think it's just because I have no idea what's going on around me most of the time.. haha.
