Mixed Messages of Early Mornings

source
Saying that I am a morning person would be inaccurate.  I do my best work at night.  I do my homework at night.  I blog at night.  I watch Netflix at night.  It's no secret that I would rather stay up until midnight and wake up at 10am than be the bird who gets the worm and wake up early.

It's the third week into the semester and I can honestly say I'm getting used to this waking up early thing.  This past week, I didn't wake up later than 8:30am at all.  Usually, I would turn my alarm off and go back to sleep on the weekends, or forego it altogether.

However, I've decided that waking up earlier gives you more time in the day.  I'm going to try to wake up by 9am everyday, including the weekends.  I don't know how long it will last, but I'm interested in seeing where it will go.
Huntington Beach Sunset
Waking up early means being able to watch the sunrise and sunset.  I'm kind of obsessed with the color of the sky.  This morning, when I went outside to get something from my car while getting ready, the sky was purple.  It was amazing.  Rarely do I see the sunrise.  The sun is always up already when I roll out of bed.

I'm a go with the flow kind of person, but you better believe I can get ready to leave in ten minutes if I wake up late.  Those days, I usually forgo all makeup and put on whatever clothes are most accessible.  Waking up like that isn't much fun though.  Being up early means getting ready when you want.  Checking facebook and blogs while eating breakfast.  Which brings me to my next point.

When I wake up closer to noon than six, I usually opt out of breakfast because lunch is on its way.  It's said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day though and I kind of enjoy it.  I actually prefer to eat breakfast in my car when I have to go to school though.  Last week, I was putting honey nut cheerios in a sandwich bag and eating them on the way to school.  I don't eat cereal with milk very often since I don't exactly like being sick.  Also, sometimes my grandma makes breakfast! On Sunday, I got pancakes and scrambled eggs because I was awake before 9am.

Then there is the whole exercise thing.  Before I found out that I HAD to get into a writing class, I was going to be going to school at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays.  The kinks in my schedule for this semester still haven't been worked out, but I was planning on waking up early, even on those days, so I could still make it to the gym.  I'd much rather go earlier than later!

What are you reasons for waking up early?

So impressive. I slept til noon on Sunday. OOPS. I'm in my second week so maybe give me another week? I also woke up early this morning to do homework because I wanted to go to sleep early last night, but that's also because I went to the gym so I guess it as okay aha
