Pretty Amazing v. 14

Double points at DSW! I'm in desperate need of some new workout shoes, so this couldn't have happened at a better time!  Not familiar with their points system? When you become a free member, you get points toward each purchase and when you reach a certain amount of points, you get coupons! As a shoe lover, I wouldn't want it any other way!

This Photobomb'd Proposal. After completing a 5k at DISNEY, Chris got down on his knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Cristina.  If that wasn't cool enough, just look at that lady's face in the picture.  Priceless.

Lightroom. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, lightroom is da bomb diggity! This program makes editing photos so much simpler to the point where I actually WANT to do it.  Usually, I just forgo the whole editing process.  With lightroom however, I can edit them and really put my own personal touch on them.  Low saturation, anyone?

We didn't skip a gym day this week! I'm extremely happy about this. Now that I have confidence that I can reach my goal if I work REALLY hard, I have been pushing myself like no other. Plus, we've only eaten fast food once so far this week! I think that's a record.

As always, if you come across anything that you find Pretty Amazing throughout the week, do not hesitate to let me know and I will add it to next weeks post!

Have an awesome weekend!

Pretty Amazing v. 13

It's that time of the week again! You know...when I bombard you with things that I find to be amazing? Yeah. that time. I think I have some pretty cool stuff for you today though!

Two Girls and a Puppy. After a family of five kids lost their dog to cancer, they wanted a new puppy, but their parents were "reluctant." They saw a photo on Facebook from a boy that he could get a puppy if he got ten likes.  The two girls showed their parents who agreed to the idea, but the catch: They had to get ONEMILLION likes.  The parents didn't think they could do it, but it only took them about 13 hours! Way to go girls. That's amazing.  I hope you like your new puppy.

Also, the story was on Good Morning America. :]

Sorry for the awkward video, I couldn't find a better one. :/

Rima and Her Breast Biopsy Patient.  Do you remember seeing Rima last week when I featured her new segment?  Well, she told me a pretty amazing "on the job" story.  According to Rima, she had to assist in a breast biopsy.  The nervous female patient had a lump on her left breast. (Wouldn't you be pretty nervous? I know I would be!) Before doing anything, the doctor always looks at previous ultrasounds and mammograms and compares them to the new ultrasound. He spent 45 minutes trying to find the lump, but miraculously, it had SHRUNK! That's pretty awesome.

My Uncle and His Cancer Scare.  My uncle's mom had colon cancer a few years ago and about a week before Christmas, my uncle was worried that he had it.  He has been going in for tests ever since.  Luckily, he has a nice job and excellent insurance.  He went in for some more tests today and HE DOESN'T HAVE CANCER! He is going to be just fine.  I'm so happy.  It would have been a really scary thing for him, my aunt, and our family to go through.

Appsfire.  Do you like deals? Yeah, me too.  This iPhone app not only lists awesome FREE apps, but it also shows you apps that are discounted.  I got Camera+ for 99 cents the other day! (it's still on sale, btw.) Even if you don't keep the app, it's free and worth browsing.

What have you been finding Pretty Amazing? I would love if this weekly post became interactive, meaning my readers submitted things they found amazing. Pictures, stories, etc. Anything you want! Just add your submissions to the comment section and hopefully you will see them in the post next week!

Pretty Amazing v. 12

Rima and Chimmy's Corner.  This lady over here is a full time nurse, part time baker, and is now trying to save the animals in her free time!? She recently started a new segment on her blog that will feature videos, websites, articles, etc that will help to raise awareness about animal cruelty, charities, fundraisers, animal foundations, etc.  Her passion and willingness to spread the word is amazing.  Keep up the good work, hun!
Also, if you are an animal lover like Rima and would like to contribute to her segment, contact her!  It can be anything about animals, such as your own pet, memories, maybe even your trip to the zoo! The content can be anything pet or animal related.

Frozen Hot Chocolate.  Well, that's an oxymoron if there ever was one. I have been OBSESSING over hot cocoa this winter.  I haven't tried it yet, but this recipe sounds delicious.  I think it would be great if you wanted hot chocolate during the summer!  If you try it, will you tell me how it is?

These 12 facts you probably didn't know about the movie Mean Girls.  Everybody loves Mean Girls, right!? I saw this post on Pinterest and found it quite interesting, so I wanted to share it with my readers. I hope you find it as interesting as I did.

How helpful the people in my life are.  Last night, I realized that I need to turn in a college application by February 1st if I want to be eligible to get a merit scholarship.  I need to write a 1-2 page essay, put together a portfolio, and -gasp- find two people who would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for me.  I wasn't feeling too enthusiastic about that last part, but I contacted my former boss and she was more than happy to do it for me! My photography professor also agreed to write one.  God is good and I'm more hopeful of turning this application in on time now.  These people are pretty amazing in my book.

Lego and Luka Apps. After losing his lego people at the store, 7 year old Luka decided to take his dad's advice and write Lego an email explaining what happened and asking for a replacement Kind of farfetched to you and me, but the amazing thing, is, Lego actually sent him the replacement along with an extra toy.  Here is the full article.

Pretty Amazing v.11

It's January.  Why does time seem to go by so quickly now a days? I know we have all heard this a million times this past week, but I'm just amazed by how it's the new year. Also, typing 2013 is weird.

Over half of my birthday goals are completed!  Because everyone has been talking about resolutions and goals, I took a look at some of my long term goals that I had and 13/20 are already done!

I finally completed my wall collage.  My closet doors are this ugly fake wood so I have been meaning to create this collage of artwork my cousins have given me, but I hadn't gotten around to it until a couple of days ago.  The feeling of accomplishing something you have been putting off for so long is the best :]

With a broken laptop, I still don't do much.   So my laptop isn't exactly "broken" but the charger hasn't been working right and it frustrates me.  Anyways, I  have all this time I could be doing other things, but instead, I just sit in bed. Doing nothing.  It's kind of weird. I know I should and could be doing other things, but I don't! Am I the only one who does this?

My brother has a girlfriend.  I found out the other day that my younger brother has a girlfriend.  His first girlfriend.  I'm trying really hard to comprehend this, but I just don't understand.  In my eyes, he's still this little kid who sits in the basement playing video games all day.  What is protocol for this situation? Do I talk to her? Do I pry? Do I ask a million questions like I want to? Or do I leave them alone? So confusing!

Romans 2:9  The message version says:
If you go against the grain, you get splinters, regardless of which neighborhood you're from, what your parents taught you, what schools you attend.
I found this verse to be very thought provoking and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Pretty Amazing v.10

WRECK IT RALPH!  I'm not even joking, I LOVEDLOVEDLOVED that movie. Vanellope Von Schweetz is super duper cute and the story line was awesome and even unpredictable to me. Movie review may come soon!

Obama is still president! I'm not bit on politics, but I do think Obama has been a pretty good president so far, even if he does get criticized for little things he does.  Everybody makes mistakes! Mitt Romney scares me, so I'm glad Obama is still in office.  Plus, since this is his second term, he will be able to make bigger changes since he already knows what he's doing.

I can blog while watching The Voice! I've been watching Pretty Little Liars the past two or so weeks and it's such an intense show that it's hard to do anything else.  My eyes were GLUED to the screen. Well, not literally, but you get the idea.  What's being said in The Voice isn't all that important, so it can serve as background noise.  I need that kind of show to be able to blog at the same time.

I still can't get over the fact that I have a best friend, that isn't my boyfriend.  We will be in Sacramento today.  Can't wait to tell you guys all about it!

This dolphin tat. Apparently, this guy lost his arm saving a girl from a fire and turned it into a dolphin.  I think it's pretty cool.  What do you think?

 Another week is over already.
Why does time seem to go by so quickly now a days? Hopefully the next few weeks will seem to fly by the same way so I can be done with this semester!

This.

Pretty Amazing v.9

This Cat Video.

Perks of Being A Wallflower.  I haven't read the book yet, but the movie was simply amazing! Definitely one that I could watch over and over and over again.

Pitch Perfect.  This was also a good movie, plus, I saw it with a friend so it made it that much better. Also, the music is awesome. It's amazing that they can sing new songs without using instruments and make them just as good, if not better!

Seven Psycopaths was NOT amazing. We walked out of the theater 30 minutes into the movie.

**Movie reviews may come soon!

I laughed so hard.

Pretty Amazing v.8

I watched a whole season of 2 Broke Girls + the newer episodes and 10 episodes of New Girl this week.  My life has been pathetic, but my dedication is pretty amazing.

The amount of whining I've done this week. It started on Monday.when I climbed into bed and wished it was the weekend already. IT WAS MONDAY. Also, this probably contributes to the fact that I didn't blog much at all this week.

I'm not feeling Halloween this year.  I LOVE Halloween. But it's on a Wednesday and I have Painting that night. Also, today I went into the Spirit store and I felt nothing. There must be something wrong with me.

This video is just too cute!

Giveaways! Recently, I won a giveaway over at  and I thought you would like a list of a few giveaways you might want to enter!

Pretty Amazing v.7

Laughing So Hard, You Nearly Pee Your Pants. Only a few people have every gotten me to laugh this hard, but my friend Erica made it happen on Wednesday. I don't even remember what was so funny.

Winning Giveaways. I just won my friend, Liz from Sweet Yarn's giveaway so she's going to work her magic and make me something awesome! I think I want either a scarf or a hat. Probably a scarf though. Just in time for the...

Colder weather!  This week, it was close to the 90's. It NEVER gets that hot where I live. Thankfully, it will be in the 60's this weekend. :]

Jenna Marbles and Her Latest Video.  This video is SPOT ON. I love her. Watch it and you will see what I mean

Mitt Romney Style.  Brie from Sophistifunk posted this video yesterday and I've watched it at least 10 times.  I like it so much better than Gangnam Style.  For one, I can actually understand the words.

Also, This Video. It needs to go viral. Like now.

Camera Strap DIY via Pinterest. My newest camera didn't come with a strap. Sadface. I found this awesome tutorial though and I must make my own ASAP.

Pretty Amazing v.6

Two years ago today, I met the boyfriend. It seems like we met just yesterday, but at the same time, it feels like we've known each other forever.

Eyesight and health.  I woke up this morning to my grandpa searching for his glasses.  I'm appreciative that I don't have to do that.  Well, I'm supposed to wear glasses, but I don't because every time I try, they just give me headaches and that's no bueno. Anyways, my grandpa actually just got back from the hospital last night after going in on Wednesday afternoon.  He's doing much better, but please keep my family in your prayers!

It took thinking that I lost my iPod for me to pick up my room. Yesterday before school, I was searching ALL over for my iPod. I could have sworn I had used it the night before, but it just disappeared.  After picking up all of the clothes off my floor, Then I thought that I might have left it in my car, which I did. At least I can see my floor now!

Best Friends and Saved Instand Messages. Because today marks the two year anniversary of our friendship, I decided to spam the boyfriend's facebook with dates of "important" things, such as the day we went to get ice cream with our friends or went to see Harry Potter and his car broke down. I'm really glad I have a best friend that I tell EVERYTHING to and AIM saved it all for me.

Begin Again - Taylor Swift Okay, I'll admit that I like Taylor Swift. I have since I was like fifteen, but I was OBSESSED back then and listened to her ALL the time. I don't do that anymore, but I do follow her and she just released a new song the other day.  I really like this song because it reminded me how awesome my current boyfriend is compared to all of the losers that I dated before.  I have actually written a commentary on a journal entry I wrote about an ex-boyfriend.  Check it out here.

Pretty Amazing v.5

  • I'm taking public transportation today.  Okay so most people who know me know that I do NOT like public transportation.  People tend to creep me out, mainly the ones that look as if they have been doing drugs or drinking alcohol since they were 13, but still. I like to try to avoid public transportation at all costs (if you really want to know the whole backstory of my issues, just ask) ANYWAYS Because parking in San Francisco is ridiculous and it takes forever to drive there, I will be taking public transportation. By. Myself. Pretty amazing.
  • Heather. I just met this awesome lady earlier this week.  Sunday, I think? Either way, all of her sponsorship money is going directly to charity to help fight cancer.  I love donating to charities and feeling like I'm helping the world out a little bit. Plus, you get ad space and other mystery gifts! Check it out!
  • I still can't get over how much better at art I've been becoming! Look at my second painting! It's a work in progress, but that green vase! <3
  • God's Not Dead - Newsboys. This song makes me wish I was able to connect my iPod to my car stereo (I don't even have a cassette dock, what the crap?).  I can just picture myself blasting it and rocking out to it on repeat I love it that much. Also, my three year old cousin loves it. How cute is that?

Pretty Amazing v.4

Fridays. Well, I was SUPPOSED to clean, do laundry, wash my car, get a bunch of homework done, etc. Let's face it. I overbooked. We all know you can't do that much in one day unless you are super mom, which I'm not yet. Instead, I spent the day doing a minimal amount of homework and hanging out with the boyfriend.
New Friends. She pretty much chose me. I would have been perfectly content to not talk to anyone during class, but she makes it oh so much more phone. Plus, we have PHOTOWARS via Instagram. How cool is that?
Instagram. Maybe it's the photographer in me, but I love instagram. Like many people, I enjoy taking crappy photos throughout my day to share with people i don't know. I especially like when the photo looks so nice that I can tag #nofilter. It makes me feel proud of myself for some reason. I think my new favorite tag is #collegelife though. Anddd I don't find it acceptable that I just realized what #latergram meant. Anyways, you should all follow me: @caitmonstro

Pretty Amazing v.3

  • The Boyfriend. I always find him pretty amazing, but recently, he decided we didn't go on "real dates" enough anymore so he's taking me to dinner and a movie tonight. Cute, huh? We are going to see The Words, which is weird because we never go see Chick Flicks in theaters. It's always Action or Animated movies.
  • Homework is actually fun. WHAT!? How is that possible? Well, because all of my classes are art related, all I do is crafty things and it's awesome. Yesterday, I drew a lamp for no good reason and it looked pretty cool, which brings me to my next amazing point...
  • I can actually [kind of] draw.  It probably takes me a little while longer than most people, but in the end, I think I do okay.  With more practice, I will become awesome!
  • I don't completely dread the stairs anymore. If you don't already know, my school is built on a hill so there's like a bajillion hundred stairs that you have to climb to get to the top. Before this semester, I was spoiled and dropped off at the top of the hill starting in the middle of my first semester because I had fractured a metatarsal in my foot and couldn't exactly climb stairs on crutches. Anyways, now that I drive, I have to climb the stairs and it's really not so bad anymore.
  • How disastrous my room ends up looking. If I don't stay on top of cleaning my room up, it looks like a tornado hit it. I am not even kidding. Clothes EVERYWHERE. And now art supplies are getting everywhere too since I have so many and I have to constantly take them out of my school bag and replace them with the next days things. Maybe I should do a quick clean up sometime today..
  • Community. I don't know if you have seen it or not, but it's a pretty good show. Though, not as good as Big Bang Theory. I've spent the past couple of nights catching up on Season Three because I stopped watching it for some reason. I'm about half way!

Pretty Amazing v.2

  • I got through this week.  As I stated in my previous post, I had a pretty stressful week. I could NOT stop thinking about how much stuff I needed to buy by this date and that date.  I prayed and asked God to take control of everything. Multiple times.  My mind still would not stop.  Sleeping seemed to be the only thing that would turn it off.
  • The fact that I'm not as bad at drawing as I thought I was. In painting, our professor showed us how to draw bottles and tea kettles.  They are actually REALLY simple. I just never would have thought of doing it the way he showed us. It was wonderful.
  • Painting, in general.  When you make a mistake while painting, that's okay because it can be covered up, really easily! This also means that terrible sketches can be covered! Also, paintings usually look BETTER when there are a ton of layers.
  • Sunsets. OH how I wish I took a picture.  The other night, the sunset made a rainbow. I'm not even kidding, it was like ROYGBIV throughout the entire sky.  I had never seen anything like that before. At least not with the colors so vivid.
  • Cell phones.  With my schedule the way it is right now, I would have little contact with people who didn't live with me or see me at school if I didn't have a phone.  Thankfully, I can talk to my maja and boyfriend whenever I want with a simple text!

Pretty Amazing v.1

I've decided to start a new weekly post called "Pretty Amazing". Basically, I will share whatever I've found or thought to be amazing this week with all of you! Let's get started!
  • Luke, Romans, and Elise. Even though I'm Christian and I'm supposed to "have it all together" I'll be the first to admit that I have praying issues and am definitely not perfect.  I can't make it a habit as hard as I try and I NEVER know what to pray about.  Elise from The Jersey Flower (you may recognize her from this guest post) sent me a few verses because I asked her to and they have helped me SOOO much. Ever since reading them, I haven't had nearly as much difficulty.  God is soooo good.
  • Giveaways. When I enter giveaways, I NEVER expect to win anything. It would be cool and all, but mainly I enter them to make the hosts feel good. I've recently won a couple though! A few posts about the winnings will be coming soon!
  • Alejandra and This Necklace. Okay, so I wasn't going to show you any of my giveaway winnings until I actually received them, but isn't this necklace just awesome? I cannot wait to get it in the mail. I will probably be wearing it for a week straight. I have been wanting a pearl necklace for FOREVERRRR.
  • This Recipe. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks so simple and delicious! Only three ingredients.
  • Narnia.  I didn't think I would like the series when I first started it.  The movies are....not that great.  I literally CANNOT PUT THEM DOWN.  The third one took me awhile, but I have been getting through the rest way too fast. Which is kind of a good thing though because my goal was to finish before school started and I start on Monday.
  • 10 months. I mentioned this on Wednesday, but I still find it Pretty Amazing that I've been with the boyfriend for 10 Months. Cannot wait for that year mark. We are going to have to do something incredibly special <3

What have you been finding Pretty Amazing lately?
